HC Truck Licence In NSW
If you are looking to embark on a career as a semi-trailer driver, you will need to hold a HC truck licence NSW. This licence class covers vehicles including prime movers, pig trailers, floats, low loaders and truck and dogs. The HC truck licence class is required for a number of careers including tanker driver, road construction/quarry driver, refrigerated transport, container transport, heavy general freight, bulk garden supplies and more. The RMS specifies that a HC licence NSW must be held to operate the following:
- Articulated vehicles with three or more axles
- Heavy rigid vehicle trailer combinations including unladen dolly, with three or more axles
- Any towed trailer with a GVM greater than nine tonnes
Many people prefer to obtain their HC licence NSW before moving on to the MC licence, as it will provide them with valuable experience and an understanding of what it is like to drive with a single trailer. You will gain the confidence, safety knowledge and skills necessary for the MC licence upgrade in future, and it will also be beneficial for your insurance policy. Many employers will also look upon a HC truck licence favourably.
